Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate for 2023, has declared that he is more concerned with Nigeria’s prosperity now than he is with it in the future.

This comes after rumors circulated on social media that he intended to select Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, as his running mate for the 2027 election.

However, Obi said he was not looking too far ahead when he spoke with reporters in Gombe State on Sunday, just after donating a borehole to the ram market in Tike Pantami.

In response to a question concerning a potential partnership with El-Rufai, he stated: “Well, I’m more interested in Nigeria’s success today than tomorrow.”

“We constantly focus on the election instead of the struggles that Nigerians face.

“My commitment is to improve the lives and society of Nigerians, and that is what concerns me.”
