A Zimbabwean woman who was suspected of cheating on her husband has been arrested for allegedly k!lling her two children.
Following the terrible event that took place at a water canal in Section 4 of Triangle, Masvingo, on January 8, 2025, Blessing Chiromonyo, a 25-year-old suspect, was arrested on murder charges.
In what appears to be a murder-suicide attempt, Chiromonyo took her two girls, ages three and seven, to the canal and dove into the water with them, according to a police statement that was put on X. The children were carried away by the powerful currents and drowned, but Chiromonyo escaped unscathed.
According to preliminary findings, a domestic argument was the cause of the tragedy. According to reports, Chiromonyo got into a furious confrontation with her husband after accusing him of cheating. Before the altercation turned into the tragic event that resulted in the deaths of the two youngsters, neighbors heard loud voices.
While local investigators continue their work, Chiromonyo is still being held on murder allegations until additional court cases.
The tragic event has shocked the Masvingo community and spurred discussions on family dynamics, mental health, and the value of conflict resolution. Authorities and community leaders are advising citizens to avoid using violence during family conflicts and instead seek support and counseling.
