Aminu Kanawa, the next in line to infamous bandit boss Bello Turji, has been neutralized by Nigerian military troops involved in Operation Fansan Yamma in the country’s northwest.
It was discovered that Turji’s younger brother, Dosso, and one of his closest associates, Danbokolo, suffered fatal wounds from the air and ground forces during the ongoing assault.
According to Daily Trust, clearance operations along the Shinkafai, Kagara, Fakai, Moriki, Maiwa, and Chindo axis a few days ago resulted in the death of the terrorist kingpin’s son and numerous of his fighters.
The operation’s air component also destroyed a primary school on the axis in Zamfara State that the terrorists used as a supply depot, impairing their fighting capabilities.
Major-General Edward Buba, the departing Director, Defence Media Operations, confirmed the killing of Turji’s allies on Wednesday and informed reporters that the terrorists were in disarray in their camp as a result of rigorous operations.
Abu Dan Shehu, Jabbi Dogo, Dan Kane, Basiru Yellow, Kabiru Gebe, Bello Buba, and Dan Inna Kahon-Saniya-Yafi-Bahaushe were among the important Turji commanders who were slain between Monday and Tuesday, according to Buba.
Following a continuous military campaign against terrorists in the nation’s northwest, forces from Operation FANSAN YAMMA neutralized Aminu Kanawa, the second-in-command of infamous terrorist commander Bello Turji, between January 20 and 21, 2025.
The senior military commander added, “In addition, troops killed more than 24 escaping terrorists from Bello Turji’s Camp in the areas of Gebe and Isa LGA in Sokoto State, as well as around Gidan Rijiya in Shinkafi LGA in Zamfara State.”
Buba further revealed that during the assault on Turji’s stronghold surrounding Fakai high ground, forces also killed Suleiman, another prominent terrorist and a supporter of the late, infamous terrorist commander Halilu Sububu.
He claimed that when the late Suleiman was killed in the firefight, he was in charge of a reinforcement unit that was trying to save Turji’s chaotic camp.
“The terrorist network in the country’s northwest, as well as their military and fighting capabilities, have suffered a serious blow with the deaths of Turji’s second-in-command, close allies, commanders, and combatants,” he continued.
These terrorist organizations were well-known throughout the region for their frequent kidnappings and terrorist acts, especially in the Zamfara and Sokoto states’ Zurmi, Shinkafi, Isa, and Sabon Birni Local Government Areas.
In general, forces will not give up until these terrorists are totally eliminated. The goal of troop operations is to provide a safe and secure environment for all citizens.
