Marcus Rashford at the Heart of Swap Deal for Napoli’s Victor Osimhen
Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford has become the centerpiece of a potential swap deal involving Napoli’s prolific striker Victor Osimhen.
Rashford, valued at £60 million, has reportedly rejected lucrative offers from three Saudi Arabian clubs—worth up to £675,000 per week—as he prioritizes reclaiming his place in the England national team. The 27-year-old believes a move to another top European club would provide the ideal platform to achieve this goal.
Napoli, managed by former Tottenham boss Antonio Conte, has expressed interest in Rashford, whose recent performances and exclusion from United’s starting XI under manager Ruben Amorim have fueled speculation about his future.
Meanwhile, Amorim is eager to strengthen United’s attacking options amid their ongoing struggles. The prospect of signing 26-year-old Osimhen has reignited United’s interest in the Nigerian striker. Currently on loan at Galatasaray, Osimhen boasts an impressive record of 65 goals in 108 Serie A appearances for Napoli since joining from Lille in 2020.
United could activate Osimhen’s £62 million release clause as part of the deal. This potential transfer aligns with Amorim’s ambitions to rebuild the squad after recent setbacks, including a three-match losing streak that has left the club languishing in 14th place in the Premier League.
Rashford’s situation has been compounded by being benched in key matches, including the recent 2-1 derby victory over Manchester City. Despite interest from Saudi clubs offering to make him the highest-paid English player in history, Rashford remains focused on impressing England’s new manager, Thomas Tuchel, and reclaiming his international career.
Though Rashford has stated his openness to a “new challenge,” sources suggest he has not ruled out staying at Old Trafford, where he is contracted until 2028.
