President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has signed into law a bill establishing the North-Central Development Commission (NCDC), a move aimed at accelerating development in the region, News360 Nigeria reports.
Senate President Godswill Akpabio announced the signing of the bill during Tuesday’s plenary session in the Senate chamber.
The newly created NCDC is expected to drive economic growth, improve infrastructure, and implement social welfare programs across the North-Central states. The initiative aligns with the federal government’s broader agenda to address regional disparities and promote balanced development across Nigeria.
With this approval, the North-Central region now joins other geopolitical zones with dedicated development commissions, including the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) and the North-East Development Commission (NEDC).
