TCN Announces Weekend Power Outages in Parts of FCT

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) has announced a planned seven-hour power outage in some areas of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) over the weekend. This notice, issued on Saturday, February 24, by TCN’s General Manager for Public Affairs, Ndidi Mbah, is due to scheduled preventive maintenance on critical infrastructure.

Mbah stated, “The Transmission Company of Nigeria wishes to inform the public that its maintenance crew will be undertaking planned preventive maintenance on its 132/33kV 2X100MVA power Transformers in Apo Transmission Substation.” The maintenance activities are scheduled for Saturday and Sunday, running from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm on both days.

As a result of the maintenance work, there will be interruptions in power supply, affecting the Abuja Distribution Company’s (DisCo) ability to draw power from the two transformers for distribution to its customers. The areas expected to experience power outages include Garki, Asokoro, Lugbe, Airport Road, Gudu, Gaduwa, parts of Lokogoma, Apo, Kabusa, Guzape, and Nepa Junction.

The TCN assures residents in the affected areas that power supply will be restored each day by 4 pm following the completion of the day’s maintenance work. The planned outage is part of TCN’s efforts to ensure the reliability and stability of the power supply by conducting necessary upkeep on its equipment.
