Kebbi Police Command Presents ₦33.8 Million to 50 Families of Fallen Officers

The Kebbi State Police Command has presented cheques worth ₦33,816,610.97 to the families of 50 fallen police officers who lost their lives in active service. The presentation, held on Thursday at the command headquarters in Birnin Kebbi, was part of the Group Life Assurance and IGP Family Welfare Schemes designed to support the dependents of officers who paid the ultimate price in the line of duty.
Presenting the cheques, the Commissioner of Police, CP Bello M. Sani, said the gesture reflects the unwavering commitment of the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, to the welfare and well-being of police personnel and their families.
“This is a reflection of the IGP’s leadership, kindness, and compassion toward our officers and their loved ones,” CP Sani said. “His commitment continues to inspire morale and performance across the force.”
He praised the Inspector-General’s consistent efforts to prioritize police welfare, saying these initiatives not only strengthen the morale of serving officers but also provide hope and dignity for families of the fallen heroes.
‘May Almighty Allah Bless the IGP’ — CP Sani
While offering prayers for the Inspector-General, CP Sani said the IGP’s magnanimity has brought joy and relief to many families. He urged the beneficiaries to use the funds wisely to secure their future and that of their children.
“I advise all recipients to invest this money thoughtfully — in ventures that will sustain your families and preserve the memory of your loved ones,” he said.
Beneficiaries Express Gratitude
Speaking on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr. Sonnen Simeon Mome expressed deep appreciation to IGP Egbetokun for his compassionate gesture and unwavering concern for the welfare of police families.
“This gesture means a lot to us. It is a great relief and a reminder that our loved ones did not die in vain,” Mome said. “We promise to use the funds responsibly and for the betterment of our families.”
The event ended on a note of solemn reflection and renewed commitment to the service of the nation, as officers and families prayed for the eternal rest of their departed colleagues and for peace across Nigeria.
The Bureau News reports that the IGP Family Welfare Scheme has, in recent months, extended similar financial support to dozens of bereaved families nationwide — part of a broader reform agenda to restore dignity, morale, and compassion in the Nigeria Police Force.
