JTF Arrests Alleged Bandit Logistics Supplier in Kogi’s Yagba West; Cash, “Hard Drugs” Seized
The Joint Security Task Force (JTF) has arrested Owoloja Femi, the Chairman of the Okada Riders Association, Ejiba Branch, on suspicion of supplying logistics and illicit substances to bandits operating in Yagba West LGA, Kogi State.
Arrest on routine patrol — Nigeria News Today
Security sources told The Bureau News the suspect was intercepted at about 7:30 p.m. on Saturday in Odo-Eri, along Saminaka Road, during a routine patrol. He and an accomplice (now at large) allegedly loaded two cartons of drugs onto a motorcycle and attempted to flee. Owoloja was caught as he tried to escape; the accomplice escaped into nearby terrain.

- ₦600,000 in cash, believed to be proceeds or operational funds
Preliminary investigation indicates the suspect confessed to buying the drugs from a chemist in Egbe for delivery to bandits hiding in the forest. He is in police custody as investigators trace possible links, financiers, and collaborators in the supply chain.
Local government reacts
Tosin Olokun, Chairman of Yagba West LGA and Chairman of Kogi State ALGON, praised the operatives for the swift interception and reiterated the council’s commitment to dismantling criminal logistics networks across the zone.
“We remain committed to the safety and peace of all communities. Anyone aiding, harbouring, or transacting with criminal groups will be handed over to relevant security agencies for prosecution,” Olokun said in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Adeyemi Babarinde.
Next steps
Authorities said the case file will be expanded as detectives work to identify suppliers, receivers, and routes used to sustain bandit operations in Yagba West and adjoining corridors.
