ISWAP Reacts to Trump’s Threat of Military Action in Nigeria — The Bureau News

ABUJA — The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has issued a reaction to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent threat to launch military action in Nigeria following alleged killings of Christians in the country.

Trump had earlier declared Nigeria a “Country of Particular Concern (CPC)” and directed the U.S. Department of Defense to prepare possible intervention plans in response to what he described as “genocide against Christians.”

ISWAP Calls Trump a “Reckless Tyrant”

Security analyst Zagazola Makama revealed via his official X handle that the terrorist group reacted through a propaganda message shared across its encrypted communication networks.

According to the report, ISWAP labelled Trump a “reckless American tyrant” who was allegedly influenced by “evangelical Christian and Jewish advisers” during his presidency.

The extremists accused the U.S. of attempting to position itself as a “global defender of Christians” through Trump’s foreign-policy moves and warned that any American-led action in Africa would face resistance.

Militants Warn Fighters to Stay Off the Grid

Makama noted that in the same message, ISWAP commanders warned their members to reduce visibility by avoiding large gatherings and limiting the use of smartphones that could expose their locations to Western intelligence agencies.

The group further urged Muslims across West Africa to remain united and “take the U.S. threat seriously,” accusing Western governments of committing “crimes against Africans under the guise of humanitarianism.”

Analysts say the message reflects growing anxiety among extremist factions about renewed Western attention to Nigeria’s security crisis amid Washington’s intensified scrutiny of religious-freedom violations.
