Army Rescues 21 Kidnap Victims in Coordinated Operations Across Kwara and Kogi

Troops of the 12 Brigade and 22 Armoured Brigade of the Nigerian Army have rescued 21 kidnap victims in joint operations across Kwara and Kogi States, following intensified offensives against criminal gangs. The operations were conducted on October 17, 2025, The Bureau News reports.

The victims comprise 14 males, 5 females, 1 infant, and 4 Chinese nationals. According to 2 Division spokesman Lt.-Col. Polycarp Okoye, some had been held for over four months before the troops’ push forced their release.

Medical care and recovery

The rescued persons were evacuated to a military medical facility for treatment and relief support. Many were reportedly weak from prolonged captivity but are responding to care and will be reunited with their families after recovery.

Commanders’ message to residents

The GOC 2 Division and Commander Sector 3 Operation FANSAN YAMA, Maj.-Gen. C. R. Nnebeife, who coordinated the operations, assured the public that the Division will sustain pressure on criminal elements and that there will be no hiding place within its Area of Responsibility. He appreciated the Nigerian Air Force for persistent air support and other security agencies for operational synergy.
