Terrorists Ambush Traders on Koro–Egbe Road, Heightening Fear Across Kwara–Kogi Border Communities

Traders travelling from Koro in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State to Egbe in Yagba West Local Government Area of Kogi State for the popular Ebu Market Day were ambushed by terrorists in the early hours of Tuesday, December 2.
The Bureau News gathered that the attackers struck on the isolated Koro–Egbe route, intercepting vehicles conveying traders on their weekly cross-border trip. The exact number of kidnapped victims remains unclear at the time of filing this report.
The attack has intensified fear across communities on the Kwara–Kogi axis, where residents say criminal activities have escalated despite repeated warnings to security agencies.

Local residents told The Bureau News that the Koro–Egbe corridor has increasingly become a target for gunmen who exploit the bushy terrain and lack of adequate patrols.

Fresh Terror Attack on Oshokoshoko–Obajana Highway
This latest ambush comes barely days after another disturbing incident along the Oshokoshoko–Obajana highway in Kogi State, where terrorists reportedly seized control of the road, leaving travellers stranded for hours.
In the incident earlier reported by SaharaReporters, dozens of commuters were seen stuck in long queues as gunshots echoed in the background amid a confrontation between security personnel and the attackers.
“We have been here for more than three hours. Kidnappers are taking over the road… everywhere is on fire. Soldiers and bandits are exchanging fire,” one distressed traveller narrated while filming the scene.
Another commuter pleaded for nationwide attention, saying:
“Nigeria, please come and save us here. We are in trouble. Everybody parked, nobody is moving. Kidnappers are taking over the road.”
Authorities Yet to Release Official Casualty or Rescue Updates
Security agencies have not issued any formal statement regarding the latest Koro–Egbe abduction as of press time. Residents, however, continue to demand immediate government action to restore safety along both highways.
