29-Year-Old Ex-Inmate Confesses to Serial Killings: “I Want a Good Meal Before I Die”
A 29-year-old ex-prison inmate, Ogunnaike Philip, who has been arrested for allegedly killing over five people, has made shocking confessions about his crimes, which targeted young women. The suspected serial killer admitted to taking the lives of three women, claiming that his primary motive was to steal their phones, which he later sold for money. He also confessed to demanding ransom from the families of his victims while pretending they were still alive.
Philip, who was arrested by the Ogun State Police Command, is accused of kidnapping, raping, and robbing his victims before ultimately murdering them. His victims, Dina Abigail (22), Ogunyemi Mary (23), and Akinsanya Abibat (18), tragically lost their lives in his brutal spree. According to the police, Philip spared the life of one of his victims after taking her phone, a rare exception to his otherwise deadly pattern.
The suspect, who spoke boldly about his crimes, revealed how he used different aliases to avoid detection, particularly due to his history as an ex-prison inmate. He admitted to raping two of his victims before killing one, and he described his cold and calculated approach to luring his targets.
Despite his chilling confessions, Philip remained unphased about the consequences he faces in court. Accepting the likelihood of a death sentence, the 29-year-old remarked that he is ready to die. However, in a dark twist, Philip also expressed a final wish: to eat a “good meal” before his execution, although he refused to reveal what the meal would be until the time comes.
During a press briefing at the crime scenes, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, shared more details about the case. On May 26, 2024, Abigail, a nurse, was abducted while on her way to work at Sodipo Medical Centre in Itori. Her body was later discovered in a nearby forest, adding her to the list of Philip’s known victims.
Exhibits recovered from Philip included several phones, a POS machine, and two ropes, believed to have been used in his criminal activities. His arrest marks the end of a horrifying series of kidnappings, rapes, and murders that left the community reeling in fear.
Despite his acceptance of his fate, Philip’s case will now move to the courts, where justice for his victims and their families awaits.
