In a recent video that has gone viral, the former Emir of Kano State, Mohammad Sanusi II, shared his thoughts on the governorship dispute in Kano State, expressing his belief that it is too late for certain political figures to accept defeat gracefully.
The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) during the last general elections in Kano State, Dr Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, and other APC stalwarts had accepted the Supreme Court’s judgment on the dispute after tribunal and Appeal courts had initially ruled in their favor.
Sanusi, in the video during a lesson session, reflected on the concept of accepting destiny, emphasizing that attempts to seize power through the courts were not aligned with the will of the people.
“We thank Allah, the Almighty and congratulate the people of Kano State. When people vote, any attempt to stifle their choice is a shared injustice. The robbery is not on the winner, but the electorate,” Sanusi remarked.
The former Central Bank governor criticized the move by some individuals to force their way into power through what he described as corrupt judicial processes, noting that the best time to accept destiny is after the polls.
“It’s too late,” Sanusi asserted, emphasizing that God is always on the side of truth. He commended the people of Kano State for their resilience and urged politicians to learn from the democratic processes of the developed world.
Sanusi concluded by expressing hope for the success of Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf, urging him to fulfill his campaign promises and reminding politicians that democracy thrives when leaders deliver on their commitments.
