Shiites and police fight in Kaduna over the Qud’s Day procession

Police officers scattered members of the Shiite Islamic sect who were participating in a procession in the state capital of Kaduna on Friday to commemorate the International Day of the Quran, causing confusion.

As the disturbance became severe, gunshots could be heard coming from the always bustling Kano Road axis, forcing merchants to close their doors and sending people fleeing for their lives.

According to an eyewitness, the police made an effort to scatter Shiites, or members of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), who had assembled along Ahmadu Bello Way (Kaduna) and were organising a parade.

Both sides suffered losses, with an estimated two Shiites slain. Moreover, a few police officers suffered injuries. He replied, “They were taken to the hospital in a hurry.

Members of the IMN were violent when the police approached them, according to ASP MansIr Hassan, the spokesperson for the Kaduna State Police Command. This resulted in some arrests and the recovery of weapons.

Panicked, locals in the impacted area stayed indoors during the duration of the chaos.

Every year throughout the month of Ramadan, the Quds day is observed, according to Professor Dauda Nalado, an IMN member.

“Imaam Ruhullah Al-Musawi Al-Khomeini, the great global leader of the Islamic Revolution, invited Muslims and non-Muslims with humanity at their core to demonstrate solidarity with the oppressed and defenceless people of Palestine and against the brutality of the usurper, apartheid, and the state of Israel, which is illegal. The final Friday of every Ramadan is designated as International Quds Day by the imam.

Since 1980, there have been Quds in various nations in Asia, Africa, Latin America, the Middle East, Britain, France, Sweden, America, Germany, Canada, and Australia. The Islamic movement in Nigeria has been commemorating this day for decades, led by His Eminence Sayyid Dr. Ibraheem Ya’qoub El-Zakzaky (H).

“In actuality, the 2015 massacre in Zaria was carried out in part to assassinate Sayyid Ibraheem El-Zakzaky and put an end to this magnificent movement for justice because of the movement’s unwavering support for the Palestinian path.

“Prior to this, the public may remember that on July 25, 2014, 34 people—including this great African leader’s three biological children—were killed when Nigerian soldiers attacked a Quds Day procession in Zaria in support of Palestine.”

“For the past six months, the Zionist State has killed nearly 33,000 Palestinians and injured nearly 80,000 others, with women and children making up the majority of the wounded. They have reduced Gaza City to ruins and demolished buildings. They have perpetrated war crimes with impunity and broken every international human rights law.

“It is important to remember that the Palestinian people have been oppressed and subjected to repressive rule since the unlawful state was established in 1948, dominating and dehumanising every aspect of their everyday existence.

On October 7, 2023, the Palestinians carried out a retaliatory “Aqsa storm operation,” which set off the current Zionist atrocities. These developments represent Zionism’s demise.

“Sadly, the United States and the United Kingdom are supporters of this genocide,” he said, urging all people and nations with humanity to denounce and put an end to the genocide against the Palestinian people.

He expressed gratitude to Iran, Lebanon (Hizbullah), Syria, Iraq, Yemen, and South Africa for their assistance as the axis of resistance. He backed the oppressed Palestinian people in their just resistance and denounced the ongoing, heinous genocide against the Palestinian people.

He demanded a lasting truce, a comprehensive package for the freedom of Palestine, and the Nigerian state to cut diplomatic ties with the Zionist state of Israel.
