The Kremlin responded sharply to U.S. President Joe Biden’s recent remarks where he labeled Russian President Vladimir Putin as a “crazy SOB,” describing Biden’s comments as an attempt to embody a “Hollywood cowboy.” These remarks were made by Biden during a fundraising event in San Francisco, where he highlighted global concerns about nuclear conflict amidst climate change challenges.

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov dismissed the impact of Biden’s words on Putin, stating that such “boorish statements” from the U.S. president would not affect the Russian leader. However, Peskov suggested that these comments reflect poorly on the United States itself, casting it as a significant embarrassment for the nation.

Peskov further criticized Biden’s approach, accusing him of adopting a flamboyant demeanor akin to a movie character for political gain within the U.S. He asserted that President Putin refrains from making derogatory remarks about Biden, emphasizing the inappropriateness of such language from the leader of a prominent country like the United States.

The relationship between Biden and Putin has been notably tense, especially in the wake of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Putin, reflecting on his interactions with U.S. leaders, mentioned he hasn’t spoken with Biden since before the invasion, contrasting this with a “personal relationship” he claimed to have had with former President Donald Trump.

Biden, on his part, has consistently voiced his criticism of Putin and Russia’s actions in Ukraine, marking a stark stance in U.S.-Russia relations over the past two years.
