In the state, the Katsina State Police Command has freed 100 victims who had been kidnapped and killed five suspected bandits.
This was revealed in Katsina on Friday by the command’s spokesperson, ASP Abubakar Sadiq-Aliyu, who was briefing reporters on the accomplishments the command had made in March.
He added that during the review period, 29 rapists and 11 suspected murderers had been caught, and 658 rustled animals had been recovered.
According to Sadiq-Aliyua, 51 serious crime instances, including livestock rustling, culpable killings, kidnapping, and armed robbery, were registered in March.
He clarified that thirty of the cases, involving sixty-four suspects, were brought to justice.
He claims that nine individuals were taken into custody for armed robbery, while 19 more were detained for various charges including as theft, instigation, intimidation, and affiliation with brigand gangs.
In the meantime, the command gave 13 families of police personnel who died while on duty a payment for more than N4.5 million on Friday.
On behalf of Mr. Aliyu Abubakar-Musa, the state’s commissioner of police, DCP Aminu Usman-Gusau, deputy commissioner of police, finance and administration, presented the checks.
He claims that the funds come from Inspector General of Police Family Welfare Insurance Schemes and Group Life, which are intended to assist the families of fallen officers.
