Peter Obi, former Governor of Anambra State and Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate, has visited Plateau State to commiserate with victims of the recent attacks in Bokkos Local Government Area, which claimed dozens of lives and displaced many residents.
Obi met with Governor Caleb Mutfwang in Jos before proceeding to Bokkos, where he interacted with affected residents, including displaced children, expressing deep concern over the scale of devastation caused by the violence.
Describing the attacks as “senseless killings,” Obi decried the humanitarian toll and called for immediate interventions.
“What has happened in these communities is very saddening and utterly unacceptable. Nigerians should not be killed or forced to flee their homes when we are not at war. Every life is precious, and no Nigerian, regardless of where they live, should have to live in fear or uncertainty,” he said.
Obi announced a personal donation of ₦7.5 million to support displaced children, facilitate their continued education, and address urgent needs in the affected communities.
He extended condolences to grieving families and called for urgent efforts to restore peace and security across the state.
“My heart is with the people of Bokkos, the displaced children, women, and entire communities during this difficult time,” Obi added.
He reaffirmed his commitment to national healing, unity, and the pursuit of justice for all Nigerians.
