The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has officially zoned its 2027 presidential ticket to the South, following a key resolution reached at the party’s 102nd National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting in Abuja on Monday.

PDP NEC Resolution

Announcing the outcome of the meeting, PDP National Publicity Secretary, Debo Ologunagba, explained that the zoning committee recommended a power balance between the North and South.

According to him, all elective positions currently held in either region should be retained, ensuring continuity and stability ahead of the 2027 elections.

“The zoning committee recommended that all elective positions presently occupied by the North and South should be maintained,” Ologunagba told reporters after the meeting.

Implications for 2027 Elections

The decision signals a strategic political direction for the PDP as it prepares to challenge the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027. With the presidency zoned to the South, political analysts believe the party is likely to see increased competition among southern aspirants.
