Six individuals are said to have died in a separate attack by unidentified gunmen in the Kadarko neighborhood of Keana Local Government Area, Nasarawa State.
Three persons were reportedly shot and killed on Sunday morning in the Tse-Abir Azer hamlet in Kadarko, three of them included the clergyman Kingsley Orshase. The other three deaths occurred last Friday.
Denis Utsa, the chairman of the United Farmers Association of Kadarko, or UFAK, confirmed the incident to reporters on Monday. He stated that the gunmen struck the location at approximately 4 p.m. on Friday, instantly killing two persons.
He said that Mr. Orshase, the third victim, passed away on Saturday in the hospital.
Many more victims, Mr. Utsa said, with gunshot wounds of varying degrees.
Mr. Utsa recounted the events, saying the victims were ambushed by the attackers while fishing at a nearby river in the Tse-Abir Azer region.
He further revealed that a retaliatory strike claimed the life of a Fulani pastoralist.
“Two farmers and one Fulani were killed in retaliation on March 22 at approximately 4 p.m. when gunmen attacked Tiv farmers fishing near the river in the Tse-Abir Azer area of Kadarko.”Dozens of the IDPs sought safety in Kadarko and Giza after the militants raided their reconstructed villages. Numerous IDP farmers suffered injuries.
He told Daily Trust Newspaper, “Three Eggon farmers were killed on Sunday, bringing the death toll to six within two days.”
As of the time this report was filed, neither the state government nor the security services had provided an official confirmation of the occurrence.
