The Kogi State government has voiced its concerns regarding the delayed progress on the construction project of the Odenyi-Oguma-Sheria road and bridge. During a visit to the site in Oguma, located in the Bassa local government area on Thursday, the State Commissioner for Works, Engr. Mohammed Ahovi Yusuf, expressed his dissatisfaction with the slow pace of the work and criticized the contractor’s professionalism and commitment.
Engr. Yusuf pointed out that the project had experienced significant delays and urged the contractor to accelerate the pace of work to ensure completion before the onset of the rainy season. He highlighted the state government’s dedication to fulfilling its promises to alleviate the hardships faced by the local community, mentioning Governor Usman Ahmed Ododo’s resolve to see the project through to completion as swiftly as possible.
The Transition Committee Chairman of Bassa Local Government, Mr. Theophilus Adama, also expressed gratitude towards the state government for initiating the project but shared similar concerns about the rate of progress. He appealed to the government to expedite the process to meet the community’s needs in a timely manner.
Comrade Dangara Daniel, a local resident, praised the government for its attention to the area through the inspection visit. He echoed the call for increased efforts to ensure the project’s rapid completion, emphasizing the importance of the road and bridge for the community’s connectivity and overall development.
