Kachalla Dan Lukuti, a feared bandit leader responsible for numerous deadly attacks in Zamfara and Katsina states, has reportedly died after suffering from a mysterious illness that left him barking like a dog before his demise.
Strange Symptoms and Death
According to sources familiar with his activities, Lukuti fell ill about a week ago, exhibiting violent aggression, uncontrollable spasms, and continuous barking sounds, resembling those of a rabid dog.
Terrified by the bizarre nature of his illness, his gang members kept their distance, unable to assist him. He eventually succumbed to the sickness, marking an unexpected end to his reign of terror.
Feared Bandit Kingpin
Operating from the Kokonba forest in Tsafe Local Government Area of Zamfara State, Lukuti led a heavily armed gang of over 50 men, orchestrating attacks in Dan Jiloga, Rijiya, Zonai, Magami, and along the Gusau-Magami highway. His operations extended into Faskari Local Government Area of Katsina State, where he was notorious for kidnappings, killings, and looting.
Despite evading security forces for years, his final days were filled with suffering. Witnesses claimed he howled and barked in agony before his eventual death.
Burial and Speculation
Overcome by fear and superstition, his gang members forced villagers in Kizara to conduct his burial, laying him to rest at a local primary school.
His strange illness has sparked widespread speculation, with some suggesting it was rabies, while others believe it was divine punishment for his years of brutality.
