Nigerian Army Pulls Out 15 Generals from Artillery Corps in Kaduna Ceremony
The Nigerian Army has retired no fewer than 15 generals from its Artillery Corps, marking the end of their distinguished military careers. According to The Bureau Newspaper, the retired officers included 11 Major Generals and 4 Brigadier Generals, who were ceremoniously pulled out of service during a parade at the Nigerian Army School of Artillery in Kachia, Kaduna State, on October 19, 2024.
The Artillery Corps, known for delivering heavy firepower support to allied forces on the battlefield, honored the retirees in a grand event attended by senior retired and serving military personnel, including former Chief of Army Staff, Major General Alwali Kazir (retd).
Speaking on behalf of the retired officers, Major General James Myam (retd.) reflected on their long and fulfilling military careers. He attributed their success to divine grace, expressing gratitude for God’s protection throughout their service. He also thanked President Bola Tinubu for the opportunity to serve and extended his appreciation to the current Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Taoreed Lagbaja, wishing him continued strength and wisdom in leading the Nigerian Army.
Major General Myam offered words of advice to the officers still in service, urging them to remain loyal to the Constitution and Nigeria’s democratically elected government. He also encouraged them to stay vigilant and security-conscious in their duties.
The event celebrated not only the contributions of the retired generals but also acknowledged the support of their families, friends, instructors, and mentors throughout their careers.
