Manchester Synagogue Stabbing on Yom Kippur Leaves Four Injured

According to Greater Manchester Police, officers were alerted at 9:31 a.m. after reports that a car had been driven into pedestrians and a man stabbed near the synagogue. The suspect attempted to advance but was stopped by armed response officers who shot him at 9:38 a.m. Police confirmed that the attacker did not gain entry to the synagogue itself.
Witness footage, later shared on social media, showed armed officers pointing rifles at the suspect as a victim lay wounded nearby. In one tense moment, police shouted, “He has a bomb, go away,” before firing a shot that subdued the attacker.

UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer condemned the attack, calling it “appalling” and particularly horrific because it occurred during Yom Kippur. He praised the swift police response, noting that the suspect was neutralized within seven minutes of the first emergency call.

Four people were injured in the attack, suffering both vehicle and stab wounds. The North West Ambulance Service declared a major incident and dispatched multiple units to the scene. The condition of the victims has not yet been officially disclosed.
