This is made worse by the fact that health professionals have expressed concern about HMPV, a respiratory virus that affects several Asian nations and is found in other regions of the region.
According to Reuters, human metapneumovirus and rhinovirus are among the viruses that have been found in recent cases; human infections are reportedly on the rise, particularly in the country’s northern provinces.
The virus is more likely to infect elderly adults, younger children, and people with weakened immune systems.
Despite the concern, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the Chinese government have not yet declared an emergency, noting that the increase in cases was being tracked.
This is even though the instances occur during the winter, when respiratory disease rates typically rise.
