Military Eliminated 106 Terrorists, Arrested 103 Criminals In One Week – DHQ

According to the Defence Headquarters (DHQ), in just one week, military personnel nationwide killed 106 terrorists and detained 103 others.

The terrorists were eliminated in coordinated operations by the ground and air forces on terrorist enclaves and hideouts, according to a statement released on Friday by Edward Buba, director of defense media operations.

According to Buba, the military also freed 96 hostages and arrested 22 oil theft suspects.

He continued by saying that during the operations, troops found 2,452 rounds of ammunition and 171 different types of weaponry.

The weapons found were 47 AK-47 rifles, one PKT gun, eighteen pump action rifles, seventeen locally made guns, fourteen dane guns, twelve locally made pistols, one hand grenade, an 81mm mortar bomb, a mortar tube, and four bandoliers, according to Buba, who was quoted by NAN.

“Others include 317 live rounds, 125 rounds of 9mm ammo, 313 rounds of 7.62 x 54mm ammo, 13 rounds of 7.62 x 51mm, 19 rounds of 7.62 x 39mm, 167 empty shells of 7.62mm special ammo, 45 empty shells of 7.62mm NATO, and 72 empty cases of cartridges. Other ammunition consisting of 995 rounds of 7.62mm special ammo.

“Among other things, they contain N112,920, 10 cars, 23 motorcycles, 19 cell phones, 1 bicycle, 4 Baofeng radios, and 14 magazines.”

According to Buba, the forces of operation Hadin Kai in the northeast have eliminated 38 terrorists affiliated with Boko Haram/ISWAP, freed 16 hostages, and retrieved numerous weapons and ammunition.

He added that between March 13 and 19, 46 terrorists—eight men, fourteen women, and twenty-four children—turned themselves in to the authorities.

According to Buba, the soldiers from operations Safe Haven and Whirl Stroke killed seven violent extremists, captured 27 criminals, freed eight kidnapped individuals, and retrieved a sizable stockpile of weapons in the north-central region.

In the northwest, he continued, troops from Operation Hadarin Daji killed 31 terrorists, detained 13 more, freed 56 captives, and found a sizable cache of weapons and ammunition.

Buba added that 40 illicit refining sites with 51 dugout pits, 17 boats, 21 cooking ovens, three pumping equipment, 15 storage tanks, and four vehicles were found and destroyed by the troops of operation Delta Safe in the south-south.

In a single week, he said, the military also seized 1,500 liters of DPK, 80,530 liters of illicitly refined AGO, and 772,350 liters of stolen crude oil.

According to Buba, the troops of Operation UDO KA discovered and demolished an IED plant in Ihiala LGA, Anambra state, in the southeast.
