In a touching demonstration of compassion and leadership, His Excellency, Alhaji Ahmed Usman Ododo, Governor of Kogi State, personally distributed food items to 1,050 widows today at Muhammadu Buhari Square in Lokoja. This initiative reflects Governor Ododo’s unwavering dedication to supporting the most vulnerable populations in the state.

Governor Ododo’s administration continues to make significant strides, reflecting his visionary leadership and genuine concern for disadvantaged groups. Addressing the widows, the Governor acknowledged their struggles and assured them that their welfare would not be politicized but prioritized. He vowed to transform their hardships into opportunities.

In his heartfelt address, Governor Ododo said,
“Today is a day of deep emotion for me because I am not standing before you only as the Chief Servant but as a man who knows what it means to lack, who has lived through hardship and carries it in his heart. I speak to you not just as your Governor but as your brother, friend, and ally. We are not here to console with words alone — we are here to wipe tears and replace them with opportunities.”

He emphasized, “Don’t pity widows; empower them. Today we share food, clothes, and financial support, but beyond this, we are laying the foundation for a greater support system that includes skills training, access to healthcare, small business funding, and education for your children.”

Governor Ododo also expressed profound gratitude to his wife, Her Excellency Hajiya Sefinat Ododo, for her unwavering dedication to the welfare of widows in Kogi State. He further acknowledged the support of Her Excellency Senator Mrs. Remi Tinubu, wife of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, praising her commitment to the empowerment and wellbeing of Kogi women.

Additionally, Governor Ododo pledged full support for President Tinubu’s 2027 re-election campaign, underscoring the importance of continuity for ongoing development.

Mrs. Ojone Ojoata, Kogi State Widows Coordinator, expressed heartfelt appreciation on behalf of the widows, describing the Governor and his wife as remarkable individuals and praying for their continued protection and success.
