Igala United Youths Forum Commends Tinubu for Appointing Kogi-born Waidi Shaibu as Chief of Army Staff

The Igala United Youths Forum (IUYF) has commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for appointing Major-General Waidi Shaibu, an indigene of Kogi State, as the new Chief of Army Staff (COAS).
President Tinubu on Friday approved a major shake-up in the nation’s military leadership. Under the new arrangement, Major-General Shaibu succeeded Lieutenant-General Olufemi Oluyede, who was promoted to Chief of Defence Staff (CDS). The president also appointed Air Vice-Marshal Sunday Kelvin Aneke as Chief of Air Staff and Rear Admiral Idi Abbas as Chief of Naval Staff.
In a statement issued in Abuja by the Forum’s spokesperson, Emmanuel Odekina Iyede, the IUYF said the appointment of Major-General Shaibu was a clear reflection of President Tinubu’s sense of equity, fairness, and recognition of merit in national service.
“The appointment of Major-General Waidi Shaibu is commendable. It shows the president’s inclusive leadership and his commitment to rewarding competence and hard work,” the statement read.
“This decision has rekindled hope among the Igala people and reechoed our tradition of dedication, discipline, and loyalty to duty.”
‘Shaibu Is a Fine Officer and a Patriot’
The group described the new army chief as a disciplined, patriotic, and visionary officer whose professionalism and record of service have earned him national respect.
“Major-General Shaibu is known for his integrity and deep commitment to the unity of Nigeria. We believe his leadership will strengthen the Nigerian Army and support ongoing efforts to improve national security,” the forum added.
Confidence in the New Military Leadership
The IUYF expressed confidence that Major-General Shaibu will justify the president’s trust through steadfast leadership and a results-oriented approach.
“We are proud of his appointment. It is a source of inspiration to the youth of Kogi State and a reminder that diligence and loyalty are always rewarded,” the statement continued.
“We also congratulate the newly appointed service chiefs and reaffirm our support for the federal government’s security agenda.”
The group prayed for divine wisdom, courage, and protection for the new Chief of Army Staff as he leads the army in service to the nation.
