In a bold directive, Defence Minister Mohammed Badaru has commanded troops of Operation Fansar Yamma to apprehend notorious bandit leader Bello Turji. Badaru issued the order while addressing the troops at the One Brigade Headquarters in Gusau, Zamfara State, on October 24, 2024.

During his address, Badaru conveyed the appreciation of President Bola Tinubu for the troops’ ongoing efforts to counter terrorist activity in the Northwest. “President Tinubu has been monitoring your progress and has observed improvements in your operations,” the Minister stated. “However, challenges persist, and he has tasked me to thank you and urge you to intensify efforts to end insecurity.”

The Defence Minister also assured the soldiers of full government support, adding, “The President is committed to providing all necessary resources to secure the Northwest and the entire nation.” Urging them on, he challenged, “Are you ready to finish this? Are you ready to end it? Please, get me Turji.”

The visit was part of the Defence Minister’s assessment tour of the Northwest. He was accompanied by Major General Oluyinka Soyele, Commander of Operation Fansar Yamma, and Zamfara’s Deputy Governor, Mani Mumuni, along with other dignitaries who were briefed on the current status of military operations in the region.

This strong mandate from the Defence Ministry marks a renewed push to bring stability to Zamfara State and its neighboring regions plagued by banditry.
