Federal Government Sets February 17 Deadline for Civil Servants to Validate IPPIS Identity
The Federal Government of Nigeria has set February 17, 2025, as the final deadline for civil servants to validate their identity on the Integrated Payroll and Personnel Information System (IPPIS).
This directive was outlined in a memo issued by the Office of the Accountant-General of the Federation (OAGF), warning that failure to comply could lead to suspension of salaries.
Purpose of the Validation Exercise
The IPPIS validation is part of the government’s broader efforts to:
- Eliminate ghost workers from the federal payroll.
- Enhance payroll transparency within the civil service.
- Curb financial leakages and irregularities in salary payments.
The government has previously extended the deadline several times to accommodate civil servants yet to complete the process. However, this latest announcement indicates a firm stance on compliance.
Official Statement
A section of the memo reads:
“Following the Treasury Circular with Ref. No. TRY/A6&B6/2024-OAGF/CAD/026/Vol. V/910 dated 27th June, 2024, on the above subject matter and subsequent extension dated 16 August, 2024, I am directed to inform you that AGF has approved the extension of the OAF-IPPIS Payroll Validation Portal for an additional one week (10 – 17 February, 2025).”
Instructions for Civil Servants
All federal civil servants must confirm their details through designated IPPIS verification centers across the country.
Additionally, the government has urged ministries, departments, and agencies (MDAs) to ensure that all employees complete the verification before the cut-off date.
Failure to comply may result in delayed or suspended salaries, as the government intensifies efforts to sanitize its payroll system.
