The Nigerian Upstream Petroleum Regulatory Commission (NUPRC) has announced plans to move some of its departments to Lagos. This decision, outlined in a memorandum penned by Dr. Kelechi Ofoegbu on behalf of the commission and dated Wednesday, February 14, aims to enhance the commission’s service efficiency, reduce operational expenses, and better utilize its Lagos assets.
The memo highlights the commission’s goals to boost organizational efficiency, stimulate industry growth, and manage its office space in Abuja more effectively. By relocating certain units to Lagos, the NUPRC seeks to improve service delivery, cut down on operational costs, and fully exploit its resources in Lagos.
Departments within the commission are instructed to identify and list units capable of functioning independently with minimal oversight. The departments are expected to submit their proposals by the end of business on Friday, February 23, 2024, as part of the necessary actions to be taken.
This move follows a similar action by the Federal Airport Authority of Nigeria (FAAN), which recently shifted its headquarters to Lagos, as reported by the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
