The Bureau News can confirm that the Association of Resident Doctors (ARD), Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA), has commenced an indefinite strike starting today, Monday.
This development was contained in a communiqué issued by the association and jointly signed by its President, Dr. George Ebong, and General Secretary, Dr. Agbor Affiong.
The resident doctors had previously embarked on a seven-day warning strike last week after prolonged, unresolved negotiations with the FCTA over their demands.
While details of the fresh action are still unfolding, the indefinite strike is expected to disrupt healthcare delivery in public hospitals across the FCT, raising fresh concerns for patients in need of medical attention.
“After months of unresolved discussions with the FCTA, we are left with no choice but to escalate our action to an indefinite strike,” the communiqué noted.
