The family of renowned Nigerian musician Innocent Idibia, popularly known as Tuface or 2Baba, has formally petitioned the Department of State Services (DSS) following his sudden and unexplained disappearance. The petition, dated February 7, 2025, was submitted by the family’s legal representatives, Anuge, Anuge & Co, urging the DSS Director-General to intervene and assist in locating the missing artist.
According to the petition, Tuface left his residence in the early hours of February 10, 2025, dressed in loungewear, presumably for his usual morning walk. However, he has not returned home since, and all attempts to contact him have proven futile. The family expressed deep concern over his disappearance, noting that it is entirely out of character for the musician, who is known for his dedication to his family and career.
The petition stated, “We are writing to urgently seek your assistance regarding a deeply troubling situation involving Mr. Innocent Idibia, who our clients reasonably believe may be missing since Monday, February 10, 2025. Mr. Innocent left his residence in the early hours of that day, seemingly for his habitual walk, but has not returned home since then. Despite extensive efforts by his family, staff, and record label management to locate him, including reaching out to his friends and acquaintances, no one has been able to establish contact or determine his whereabouts.”
The family highlighted that Tuface, an internationally acclaimed and award-winning artist, is typically accompanied by protective guards whenever he goes out. However, on the day of his disappearance, he left his residence unaccompanied, raising further alarm. The petition emphasized that his sudden absence has left his family and friends deeply distressed, especially given his responsible nature and commitment to his work.
Adding to the family’s concerns are reports of suspicious activity on Tuface’s social media accounts. Several of his close friends have received messages allegedly from his accounts, soliciting financial assistance. The family finds this highly unusual, as Tuface is financially independent and has never sought help in such a manner. This has led them to suspect that his identity may have been compromised and that he could potentially be under duress.
The petition continued, “These messages are alarming, as Mr. Innocent is financially independent and has never required assistance in such a manner. This has led his family to suspect that his identity may have been compromised, and that someone may have abducted him and is actively manipulating him to exploit his contacts for monetary gain. The implications of this situation are grave, and the possibility of foul play or coercion cannot be overlooked.”
The family also expressed concern over the broader impact of Tuface’s disappearance, noting his status as a cultural icon and role model to countless Nigerian youths. His absence has not only caused emotional trauma to his wife, children, and extended family but has also brought his thriving music empire to a standstill.
In their appeal to the DSS, the family urged the agency to leverage its expertise and resources to investigate the matter thoroughly and ensure Tuface’s safe return. “Our humble request is that you intervene urgently to investigate, locate, and rescue the Victim from wherever he may be detained. We anticipate your unalloyed cooperation in this regard,” the petition concluded.
