Alaba Excel Abbey, a key campaign coordinator for Ondo State Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has been tragically assassinated at his residence in Supare Akoko, located in the Akoko South West Local Government Area. Abbey was known for his work with the Lucky Aiyedatiwa Campaign Organisation Foot-Soldiers as a ward coordinator.

The assassination has prompted strong reactions from the campaign organization, with David Ajobiewe, the Director-General of the campaign, speaking out against the violence. Ajobiewe described Abbey as a “resourceful coordinator” who was “never known to be violent” and had no history of local or domestic disputes. He emphasized the need for a thorough investigation, urging police to “step up investigations into his gruesome murder and bring the perpetrators of the dastardly act to book.”

The incident has been confirmed by the state Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami-Omisanya, who stated that the state command is fully aware of the killing and that investigations are actively ongoing to uncover all the details surrounding the event.

The assassination of Alaba Excel Abbey adds to the concerns about safety and security in the run-up to local elections, highlighting the tensions that can emerge in political campaigns. The community and local authorities are now calling for swift action to ensure justice is served.
