Nigerian Woman Defends Husband After Alleged Domestic Violence Incident
Kagbaranee Imeah, a Nigerian woman who recently accused her husband, Livinus, of assaulting her over her choice of attire for a school run, has come forward to defend him barely a day after the alleged incident.
Imeah had previously taken to Facebook to share photos and videos showing injuries on her face, claiming her husband violently attacked her for wearing a singlet to drop off their children at school. However, in a new video circulating on social media, the visibly injured woman, with one eye swollen shut, read from a prepared script in defense of her husband.
Speaking in the video, Imeah said, “I’ve looked inward and found that the pain of disrespecting and working against my husband’s order was what led to what he did to me. He has never done anything like this since we got married. After the incident, he took me to the Central Government Hospital in Warri for proper medical checkup and treatment. My sight is perfectly in order.”
Imeah thanked those who expressed concern for her but insisted that she was at peace and well cared for in her matrimonial home.
“I don’t regret marrying my husband. He never wanted to harm me, and I also don’t want any harm to come to him because of this issue,” she said.
She went further to issue an appeal, calling on individuals, organizations, and bloggers to refrain from attacking or stressing her husband over the incident.
“I order that no one, organizations, bloggers, or individuals should harm or stress my lovely husband on this issue. I will always stand by him forever and see God’s purpose for our family. There is no perfection anywhere. We all make mistakes.
“Please stop. I am at peace with my husband. As you can see, my eyes are getting better. I don’t need any harm to come to my husband because of this issue,” she added.
The incident has sparked widespread conversations on social media, with many questioning the authenticity of her statement and expressing concerns about possible coercion. Domestic violence remains a pressing issue in Nigeria, and this case has reignited debates about victim protection and support in such situations.
