Nigeria’s senior women’s basketball team, D’Tigress, have touched down at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja, after clinching their fifth consecutive FIBA Women’s AfroBasket title.
The reigning African champions defeated Mali 78–64 in a final performance at the Palais des Sports de Treichville in Abidjan on Sunday night.
With the victory, D’Tigress became the first team in Africa to win the AfroBasket championship five times in a row.
The triumph also brings their total AfroBasket titles to seven.
They have dominated African women’s basketball, winning their 29th consecutive game without a single loss since 2015.
