Four security officers and two civilians have been killed when bandits attacked a Mobile Police (Mopol) base in Garagi, Yartsamiyar Jino Village, Kankara Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The residents reported that the assault occurred on Tuesday, also resulting in one officer sustaining injuries.
The assailants also took away the officers’ rifles during the incident, Daily Trust reports.
Additionally, a local resident, who wished to remain anonymous, said, “The attackers razed classrooms at the primary school in Tsamiyar Jino, which had been used as a camp by the security forces.”
Attempts to reach the Katsina State Police spokesman, ASP Abubakar Sadiq Aliyu, for comment were unsuccessful at the time of filing the report.
The Bureau Newspaper days ago reported that terrorists reportedly attacked Dan Auta village in the Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State and killed two people.
They had also kidnapped an All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman and 13 other villagers, among them women and children.
Witnesses report that the APC Chairman in the area, Alhaji Imamu, and other victims were kidnapped by the terrorists who arrived at the village in large numbers on motorcycles and were armed with automatic weapons.
Despite the efforts of the KSCWC and local vigilante groups to resist the assault, they were overwhelmed by the sheer number of assailants.
