Lokoja Raid: EFCC Nabs 48 Suspected Internet Fraudsters and a Herbalist

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC)’s Ilorin Zonal Command has made a significant bust in Lokoja, the capital of Kogi State, with the arrest of 48 individuals suspected of internet fraud and related offenses.

This operation, carried out on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, followed thorough intelligence gathering that led authorities to various locations across Lokoja. Among those arrested was a herbalist, believed to play a pivotal role as a spiritual advisor to the internet fraudsters, found in possession of numerous charms.

The raid resulted in the seizure of a substantial haul of items associated with their fraudulent activities. Authorities recovered 10 exotic cars, two motorcycles, 11 laptops, 83 mobile phones, and a collection of charms from the suspects.

The individuals involved, all male and aged between 17 and 34, are currently undergoing thorough investigation. Following the conclusion of these investigations, they are expected to face legal proceedings for their alleged involvement in conspiracy and obtaining under false pretense.
