On Thursday, locals from Gonin-Gora in Kaduna State’s Chikun Local Government Area blocked the Kaduna-Abuja Expressway in protest over the kidnapping of an unidentified number of local residents.
Residents rushed the highway to voice their disapproval and to demand action from the government regarding the bandits’ constant attacks on their village.
Information surfaced that on Wednesday night, February 28, 2024, robbers raided the community and abducted an unknown number of the locals.
The attack occurred on Thursday from 11 p.m. until 3 a.m., according to an eyewitness who also happens to live in the neighborhood.
“With no security personnel in sight, the thugs continued their operations for more than four hours without interruption. Residents were compelled by this to demonstrate against the incident this morning,” he stated.
“We heard gunfire as the bandits broke into the neighborhood and started firing randomly, waking us up.” The eyewitness, who also happens to be a local, claimed that the heavily armed intruders that broke into the area took several residents to an unidentified location.
It was also learned that some locals had left the region out of concern that the bandits might make a comeback.
To facilitate traffic movement, the Joint Task Force of security personnel was sent to the area.
