Dr. Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, a former governor of Kano State, has acknowledged that he has been given a position as a minister or something similar in President Bola Tinubu’s cabinet, however no decision has been made as of yet.

Kwankwaso claimed that he was in the presidential villa on Friday to continue his conversation with the President about the topic and other matters, including the current conflict between the governors of Kano State, Abba Kabir Yusuf and Abdullahi Ganduje.

The meetings take place as tensions between the former APC-led Kano Government and the current NNPP-led government are once again on the rise.

However, it appears that the discussion between Tinubu and Kwankwaso once more demonstrates the positive connection and support that the NNPP can receive from the Federal Government.

We are anticipating the 10th National Assembly’s inauguration, which will take place the following week, he remarked. Strong signs point to the fact that I will be granted ministerial responsibilities or something equivalent. However, that won’t be confirmed until the 10th National Assembly is officially inaugurated. I won’t elaborate on it at this time because we are still talking about it and will come to a decision soon.

“The President made the suggestion that I join his administration as a minister or in another position, but nothing has come of that. We will soon come to a conclusion on that and make a remark about it.

The recent decision by the Kano governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, to carry out demolition exercises of various structures erected in several areas in Kano that ought not to be was a topic of intense discussion between myself and the President. Unfortunately, the structure was given the go-ahead by the recently-departed governor, Umar Ganduje, for whatever reason.

“I showed him that the majority of the information he was receiving was incorrect, and I gave him the correct facts to persuade him that Abdullahi Ganduje, the former governor, committed multiple mistakes and took actions to benefit himself and his allies at the expense of the general populace of Kano.

“We raised the alarm when the construction was being done and urged the governor to halt the work by pointing out the consequences of some of his decisions, but he did not respond. Unfortunately, a lot of individuals were impacted, but we need to regain the area.
