Nine Killed, Several Abducted as Bandits Mount Coordinated Attacks on Kaduna Communities
At least nine people were killed and several others abducted after armed bandits launched coordinated assaults on communities in Birnin Gwari LGA of Kaduna State on Thursday evening, October 16, 2025, The Bureau News gathered from local residents.

Witnesses said the assailants surrounded Layin Danauta in Kuyello Ward, blocking entry and exit routes and firing sporadically. By around 7 p.m., residents reported recovering nine bodies while about 13 injured persons were taken to hospital.
Casualties and ongoing search
Community sources said the full toll may not be known until Friday, when daylight search-and-rescue efforts resume. Night searches were suspended over safety concerns as attackers might still be nearby. The recovered victims are expected to be buried today, in line with Friday congregational prayers.

Locals appealed for rapid deployment to secure vulnerable villages and corridors frequently targeted by kidnappers. They also urged improved early-warning systems and better support for volunteer vigilantes coordinating with security agencies.
