Victor Omololu Olunloyo Passes On, Days to 90th Birthday
Ibadan, Oyo State – Nigeria has lost one of its most distinguished statesmen, Dr. Victor Omololu Olunloyo, a former Governor of Oyo State, seasoned mathematician, engineer, and technocrat, who passed away just days before his 90th birthday.
Dr. Olunloyo, who held the revered titles of Balogun of Oyo and Otun Bobasewa of Ife, was a pioneer in many respects. He was the first Rector of both The Polytechnic, Ibadan, and the Kwara State Polytechnic, among other notable academic and administrative roles.
A highly respected figure in Nigeria’s academic, political, and traditional spheres, Dr. Olunloyo’s life was marked by his profound intellect, principled leadership, and unwavering dedication to national development.
In a statement signed by Oladapo Ogunwusi, Esq., the family expressed deep sorrow over the passing of their patriarch while remaining thankful to God for his impactful life.
“His long record of service to the nation and humanity is a source of pride to his family and associates, even as we come to grips with this devastating event,” the statement reads.
The family has also appealed to the public and the media for understanding and privacy as they begin preparations to accord Dr. Olunloyo a befitting farewell.
“Even from everlasting to everlasting, He is God.”
