A former National Publicity Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Kola Ologbondiyan, has hinted at a strong opposition coalition forming ahead of the 2027 presidential election, warning the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) of a major political shift.

Speaking on AIT, Ologbondiyan suggested that opposition figures are coming together in an unprecedented way to challenge the APC.

“What is coming is heavy,” he declared. “What is important is the desire and readiness of opposition figures to pull together. And if the picture we are picking is right, I would ask Nigerians to go and rest because there is hope ahead. In Ghana, the opposition won an election.”

His comments follow confirmation from former PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, that discussions are underway to build an opposition alliance. However, Atiku denied rumors of his defection to the Social Democratic Party (SDP), clarifying that his focus remains on uniting the opposition rather than switching parties.

With growing dissatisfaction in the political landscape, the prospect of a formidable opposition coalition could reshape Nigeria’s political dynamics ahead of the 2027 elections.
