A young woman identified as Adija, a graduate of Lagos State University (LASU), was found dead in her boyfriend’s apartment in the Meiran area of Lagos State, while her boyfriend remains on the run.
The incident, which occurred on February 26, has left family members and residents in shock.
Family’s Concerns Led to Discovery
According to reports, Adija’s family became worried when she stopped picking up calls after informing them that she was visiting her boyfriend. Upon arriving at his apartment, they found the door locked and had to break it open, only to discover her lifeless body covered with a duvet.
A Toxic Relationship
An Instagram user, @Eyeopener, who shared details of the tragedy, revealed that the couple had been dating since Adija’s 100-level days at LASU. However, their relationship had been toxic, with frequent fights.
“Neighbours reported hearing her voice on Wednesday night but did not intervene, as fights between the couple were frequent,” the user stated.
The neighbours assumed it was another argument, not realizing that something tragic had happened.
Boyfriend Still at Large
The boyfriend fled the scene before Adija’s body was discovered. According to a close family relative, Tosin, the suspect had called Adija’s mother, claiming he was ready to die as well.
“The woman suffered so much raising them. She’s a single mum, and the lady in question was an easy-going person,” Tosin said.
The Lagos State Police Command has confirmed the incident, with its spokesperson, Benjamin Hundeyin, stating that efforts are ongoing to apprehend the suspect.
Similar Case in Ogun State
In another tragic incident, the Ogun State Police Command has launched a manhunt for a man identified as Oju, who allegedly stabbed his 36-year-old wife, Josephine Isaac, to death in Agbure, Ogun Waterside Local Government Area.
According to police reports, Josephine’s sister, Blessing Isaac, reported that a violent dispute between the couple at 1 am on Thursday led to the fatal stabbing.
The police in both Lagos and Ogun States are actively investigating these domestic violence-related deaths, urging the public to report abusive relationships before they escalate into tragedy.
