Lokoja, Kogi State – In a landmark event, Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo officially launched the construction of the 19.55km Obajana-Uro-Aku rural farm road today, October 15, 2024. This significant milestone marks Kogi State’s commitment to enhancing rural infrastructure and promoting agricultural growth.
During the ceremony held at Obajana Uro Junction, Governor Ododo expressed gratitude to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his support of Kogi State’s initiatives. He emphasized that the road’s construction would alleviate the hardships faced by farmers in the region.
“It is with great fulfillment that I stand here today to officially flag off the construction of the 19.55km Obajana-Uro-Aku road under the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP),” he stated.
The Governor reiterated his administration’s dedication to improving the lives of Kogi State residents through various means. The project, executed by the Kogi State Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (Kogi-RAAMP) in collaboration with the State Ministry of Rural and Energy Development, exemplifies Governor Ododo’s commitment to rural-focused governance.
The Obajana-Uro-Aku road project is anticipated to enhance accessibility and facilitate the movement of people, goods, and services between rural communities and urban centers. It will also boost economic opportunities, improve market access for rural producers, and stimulate overall economic growth and development.
Governor Ododo’s administration has consistently prioritized rural development, recognizing its crucial role in shaping the state’s economic future. This project underscores his dedication to providing infrastructure that benefits all citizens, regardless of their location.
In partnership with the Rural Access and Agricultural Marketing Project (RAAMP), a World Bank-supported initiative, the state expects to achieve sustainable results that will alleviate challenges faced by the people of Kogi State.
Hon. Engr. Mohammed Abdulmutalib, the Kogi State Commissioner for Rural and Energy Development, praised Governor Ododo for his commitment to the welfare of the state’s residents. He noted that the project would enhance access to markets, healthcare, and education for thousands, enabling them to engage more fully in the state’s economic activities. He also announced plans to flag off five additional rural road projects, collectively spanning 65.25 km across the state.
With Governor Ododo at the helm, Kogi State is poised for transformative growth, and this project marks the beginning of unprecedented achievements.
