Bauchi State Imposes 24-Hour Curfew in Katagum LGA Following Violent Protests
Bauchi, Nigeria – In response to escalating violence during the #EndBadGovernance protests, the Bauchi State Government has imposed a 24-hour curfew on Katagum Local Government Area (LGA). This measure comes after protesters in Azare, a town within Katagum LGA, set fire to parts of the local government secretariat, vandalized vehicles, and looted properties, including the home of former Deputy Governor Baba Tela.

“Due to the deteriorating situation in Azare and its environment, leading to the destruction of public property, stealing, and victimisation, His Excellency, Senator Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed, the Executive Governor of Bauchi State, has approved the imposition of a 24-hour curfew in the Katagum Local Government Area to contain the situation,” the statement read.

Governor Mohammed has directed all security agencies to take immediate action to restore peace and order in the region.
