Kano, Kano State – Security measures have intensified around Nasarawa Palace, the official residence of the deposed 15th Emir of Kano, Aminu Ado Bayero. This follows an eviction order issued by the Kano State Government aimed at vacating the former traditional ruler.
Speaking to journalists on Thursday evening, Kano State’s Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice, Haruna Isah Dederi, emphasized the need for Bayero’s eviction to facilitate the planned reconstruction and renovation of the property.
Footage obtained on Friday morning revealed a significant deployment of security personnel strategically positioned to secure all entry points leading to the palace, which is owned by the Kano State Government. Sources indicate this measure is intended to thwart any potential disruption by unauthorized individuals during the planned demolition of Nasarawa Palace.
Additionally, separate video footage captured heavy machinery, including a bulldozer and excavator, en route to the palace, underscoring the government’s readiness to proceed with the demolition.
Notably, the Federal High Court in Kano recently nullified the removal of Emir Bayero and others by the State Government. Despite this ruling, the Kano State Government has maintained its stance that Emir Sanusi Muhammad II retains his position as the Emir of Kano.
The evolving situation at Nasarawa Palace reflects ongoing tensions surrounding the contentious leadership dispute and underscores the complex legal and political dynamics at play in Kano State.
