A chilling incident has unfolded in the Ohong Community of Obudu Local Government Area, Cross River State, where a young man allegedly murdered his mother, Justina Amunde, and concealed her body in a deep well.
The tragic event occurred on Sunday, December 29, 2024, at Chairman Road. Videos shared on social media, particularly by Facebook user Okoi Promise, depict the community retrieving the lifeless body of the woman from the well.
Eyewitness accounts reveal that the young man attacked his mother upon her return from church. According to a local resident:
“The young boy grabbed his mom when she returned from church and tied her up. He was assisted by his friend to throw his mom into a well. He threatened the house help and told her if she said anything he would kill her.”
The housemaid’s harrowing experience was further detailed when she was intercepted by a vigilant local security group.
“He took her on a bike, maybe to kill her or something, we don’t know but was intercepted by a vigilante. The girl narrated the story.”
The suspect, whose name remains undisclosed, reportedly fled the scene and is currently at large. The police and local authorities are actively searching for him while the community mourns this shocking loss.
