You Can No Longer Escape To Niger Republic, Tinubu Tells Buhari

by

President Bola Tinubu has remarked that the former President, Muhammadu Buhari’s intended relocation to Niger Republic, as previously mentioned, is now unattainable due to the closure of the border.

This statement was made during the unveiling of two books titled ‘Working with Buhari (2015 – 2023)’ and ‘Muhammadu Buhari: The Nigerian Legacy – 2015 – 2023 (Vols 1-5)’ in Abuja.

Tinubu expressed his pleasure at hosting Buhari in Abuja, citing the border closure as the hindrance to the initially proposed move. He also commended Buhari’s dedicated service to the nation since his entry into the army in 1962.

The closure of the Nigerian-Niger border has reportedly thwarted the former President Buhari’s plan to relocate to Niger Republic, according to President Tinubu.

These remarks were part of the statements made during the book launch that chronicled Buhari’s presidency. In the past, Buhari had mentioned considering moving to Niger if he couldn’t find adequate rest in Daura.

Tinubu expressed joy in welcoming Buhari to Abuja while acknowledging the former president’s long-standing commitment to national service since his early days in the army.

During the book launch event detailing Buhari’s presidency, President Tinubu revealed that the border closure between Nigeria and Niger Republic has made it impractical for former President Buhari to carry out his previously stated plan of relocating to the neighboring country.

Tinubu shared this information while expressing delight in hosting Buhari in Abuja. He also took the opportunity to commend Buhari for his unwavering dedication to serving the nation, tracing back to his entry into the army in 1962.
