The Ogun State Police Command has detained a 65-year-old man, Olalekan Ogunjobi, following the death of a woman, Serifatu Disu, at his apartment in Fatima Castle, Konigba, Ago-Iwoye, Ogun State.
Incident Details
Reports indicate that Serifatu Disu, aged 60, left her husband’s house late at night to visit Ogunjobi. According to the police, Disu complained of chest pain around 12:40 a.m. on Wednesday before stepping out of the room, where she collapsed and lost consciousness.
Despite Ogunjobi’s attempts to administer first aid, Disu did not survive.
The Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, Chief Superintendent of Police Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident, stating:
“Olalekan Ogunjobi, a 65-year-old resident of Fatima Castle, Konigba, Ago-Iwoye, reported that Serifatu Disu, a 60-year-old woman and a friend, visited his residence late at night. She complained of chest pain around 12:40 a.m. and collapsed shortly after stepping outside. Despite efforts to revive her, she passed away.”
Police Investigation
The Divisional Police Officer of Ago-Iwoye responded promptly to the incident, and Ogunjobi was taken into custody for further questioning. The body of the deceased has been transferred to the Ijebu-Ode General Hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
“We have visited the scene, and the body has been taken to the General Hospital in Ijebu Ode, where it will be moved to the mortuary for an autopsy,” Odutola stated.
Similar Case Reported
This incident follows a similar case earlier in December, where a 22-year-old man, Joseph Prince, was detained after his girlfriend, Agala Peace, died under mysterious circumstances in Ota, Ogun State. Peace reportedly passed away while being transported to the hospital.
