We Did Not Ban Super Eagles Forward Victor Osimhen – NFF

Abuja, Nigeria – The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has firmly denied reports claiming that Super Eagles forward, Victor Osimhen, has been banned from the national team following a recent social media outburst.

In an official statement released on Wednesday, NFF General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, expressed his astonishment at the false reports. Dr. Sanusi clarified that no such process to ban Osimhen has been initiated or concluded by the federation.

“The NFF hereby implores the media to join hands with the body to positively resolve issues and then focus on the big picture all the time, rather than needlessly escalate certain matters. There was no official communication from the NFF, yet some persons have gone to town to talk about a ban on Osimhen from the National Team. This is not good at all,” Dr. Sanusi stated.

He emphasized that the current focus of the NFF is on resolving all matters concerning the Super Eagles to ensure they are well-prepared for upcoming crucial matches, including the 2025 AFCON qualifiers and the remaining six matches of the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification series.

“This is not the time to spread falsehood and foul the public space the more,” Dr. Sanusi added, urging the media to avoid disseminating unverified information and instead support efforts to maintain a positive atmosphere around the team.

The NFF’s statement aims to dispel any misinformation and refocus attention on the team’s preparations for important future competitions.
